Edinburgh Meets the MEV XL

The University of Edinburgh recently welcomed the MEV XL for an on-site demonstration, giving teams the opportunity to assess how a compact electric utility vehicle could support everyday campus operations.

Rather than relying on specifications alone, the session focused on real-world practicality. The vehicle was explored as a potential solution for estates, facilities, maintenance, local deliveries and other operational duties where efficiency, manoeuvrability and lower emissions matter.

For a large and active university environment, transport needs can vary significantly from one department to another. That is where the MEV XL stands out. Its compact footprint makes it well suited to busy campuses, restricted access areas and shorter operational journeys, while its versatile body options allow it to adapt to a wide range of tasks.

The demonstration also gave university personnel the chance to inspect the vehicle closely, ask questions and consider how electric mobility could work within their own teams.

We would like to thank everyone at the University of Edinburgh who took the time to join the demonstration and share their valuable feedback.

The visit showed exactly why practical electric vehicles are gaining attention across universities: they offer a cleaner, quieter and more efficient way to keep essential operations moving.
